MAJOR VICTORY! Legacy announces a switch from MND to EIR

Congratulations Save Coto community on our first MAJOR VICTORY against the proposed Legacy at Coto development.

The below email was sent by Kevin Canning to many Save Coto supporters on October 1, 2020. It had an attachment that was from the Legacy developer Drew Pruvis who is the Co-Founder and Partner of California Grand Villages, LLC. The email and letter from Drew Purvis states “the applicant of the Legacy project has asked that, instead of a Mitigated Negative Declaration, an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) be prepared to assess the project.”

You are receiving this message because you have previously asked to be kept informed of meetings, hearings and availability of public documents relating to the subject project.

Per the attached email, the applicant of the Legacy project has asked that, instead of a Mitigated Negative Declaration, an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) be prepared to assess the project.

Within OC Planning, we have not yet fully discussed the schedule for this new process. However, please know that there will be a public review and comment period for the Draft EIR.

Fantastic job on that EIR. It really is quite comprehensive and addresses a wide variety of concerns. Any proposed new development certainly undergoes much more scrutiny and regulations compared to the days when the old tennis center was built. Any new development should strive to improve upon impact areas that weren’t considered with the existing structures.
